Developing Your Creative Identity
1) What subjects or topics are you naturally drawn to?
Due to my previous studies in Mathematics and Physics I enjoy topics surrounding those subjects such as meteorology and astrology however still partially linked but a bit more unserious, I have always found investigations of extraterrestrial, paranormal and supernatural super interesting. Without certainty in whether or not I believe in it, I still enjoy watching deep-dives, listening to podcasts and reading reports on these various subjects.
2) What is it about your chosen topic(s) that interests you?
I think both subjects share some similarity in the fact that despite our ability to investigate and somewhat understand them, there are aspects of each topic that are almost entirely out of human control. With the potentiality of technology and AI becoming so powerful there’s few things of which humans are unable to influence which makes these subjects more gripping.
3) Name an artist or a piece of work that you can relate to?
Ayo Takano

4) Why do you relate to this artist/piece of work?
Takano’s work explores themes of sci-fi, developments in technology and the human condition. I find this interesting however I also enjoy the depictions of surreal, dream-like settings. I think that her art is a great bridge for meaning behind work but is also enjoyable to a wider audience because of its aesthetic nature, intricate details and vibrant colours.
5) What emotions or experiences do you want to explore?
Feelings of redundancy or purposelessness.
Defining Your Concept – Narrowing the Focus
Central Theme: The Uncontrollable/Unknown
Three Sources
-Ayo Tanaka
-Cryptozoology
-Studies creatures whose existence whose existence is unproven, like Bigfoot, the LochNess Monster, and the Chupacabra
-Parapsychology
-Scientific study of various paranormal phenomena, often in a lab setting
Links Between Topics – Project Brief
Human Pursuit of Answers to the Unknown
-Focuses on human curiosity, science and the unknown
-Analyse how curiosity has led to advancements in understanding the natural world. As well as intersections between scientific advancements and the tools used in paranormal investigation. Look into how AI will impact human curiosity and how humans will become redundant in the pursuit of knowledge and growth.
