A standard Magic 8 Ball has 20 possible answers shown in the table above, including 10 affirmative answers, 5 noncommittal answers, and 5 negative answers. For my project, I would like to use p5.js to code an online Magic 8 Ball… but instead of using the typical conclusive statements I would like to use a selection of entirely inconclusive, vague and unhelpful answers. The significance of a Magic 8 Ball is to remind us that our future is often out of our control, and with the existence of AI and development of technology it can often seem that curiosity and superstition is becoming redundant in society but this project aims to enhance its importance when your fate and fortune appears through a murky window only to show that the future’s inevitable uncertainty… and that relying on technology will not alway have a truthful or helpful outcome.
