^ In this exercise everyone in the group followed a simple instruction which was for each turn, the next person needed to find the most empty space on the sheet of paper and place a dot in it. As the amount of dots increased patterns such as circles and curves started to appear on the page, the point of this exercise was to show that even in the appearance of randomness, the brain is able to recognise patterns similarly to machine learning algorithms.
Locations of Ancient Woolworths Stores Follow Precise Geometrical Pattern

These patterns were found from the 800 random ex-Woolworth locations by simply skipping over the vast majority of the sites and only choosing the few that happen to line-up. This proves that in any sufficiently large set of random data it is possible to find meaningless patterns of any required accuracy and shows the importance of looking at how much data people are using to support their arguments.
